Zola Nombona is a South African actress best known for her role as Shado, a streetwise teenager, in the second season of the SABC1 drama series Intersexions, in 2013. It was her first major acting role.
She was born on 10 March 1992 in Mthata, Eastern Cape in South Africa.
She went on to study drama and acting at Victoria Girls High School before pursuing the trade at Wits University where she studied for an honours degree in Dramatic Arts.
For Eastern Cape-born Zola the acting bug bit by chance, when she acted as Sarafina at a family friend's graduation ceremony in junior school. Intersexions was her first television acting part and she played a featured role in Episode 5 as Shado, Rosie's quirky and fun cousin.
She revived her role as Lerato from Single Guys in the spin-off sitcom Single Galz, in which she moves in with her girlfriends in 2014..
She won the Safta Award for best achievement by a lead actress.
She has accumulated over 490,000 followers on her znombona Instagram account. She has also been a musical artist, releasing songs such as “I Like It”.
Recently, Zola Nombona and Thomas Gumede announced that they are expecting a baby. The actress (Zola) shared her first baby bump on her Instagram in February 2020.
