Family & Early life
His family moved to Magnolia Springs, Alabama, where he was raised by his parents, Allen Shelton and Cindy Shelton. As a child, Shelton loved playing the piano and soccer. He was also interested in learning martial arts and took up classes for the same. When he was 7 years old, he started attending modeling classes, along with his cousin brother, Charli.
Uriah once participated in a talent competition in Orlando and performed really well. Following this, he was approached by many acting agencies based in Los Angeles and New York City.
After falling in love with acting, Shelton decided to move to Los Angeles, along with his mother. Apart from appearing in various commercials, Shelton also focused on improving his skills in martial arts. In 2006, he won the ‘California State Championship’ in “Tae Kwon Do.”

Uriah Shelton made his acting debut in the year 2007, when he was cast in the TV drama series ‘Without a Trace.’ In the same year, Shelton was cast as ‘Young William’ in the TV series ‘The Ghost Whisperer.’
Shelton made his film debut when he played a school kid in the 2008 comedy film ‘Lower Learning.’ The same year, he appeared on the show ‘Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight’ and in a couple of TV movies, namely, ‘Ring of Death’ and ‘The Nanny Express.’
In 2009, he appeared in the web series ‘Little Monk’ and was also seen in many TV series, including the ‘Disney’ sitcom ‘The Suite Life on Deck.’ The same year, he was cast in the feature film ‘Opposite Day.’ He then appeared in the film ‘Alabama Moon’ in 2010.

His popularity soared when he was cast in the famous comedy series ‘Girl Meets World.’ He played ‘Joshua Matthews’ in the series and was seen in eight episodes, from 2014 to 2017.
In 2016, he portrayed an important role in the Chinese–French fantasy film ‘The Warriors Gate.’ In 2017, he featured in two popular American TV series, namely, ‘13 Reasons Why’ and ‘NCIS: Los Angeles.’

In 2017, Shelton was accused of kicking a female friend in the stomach. The girl, whose name was not revealed, stated that the kick had left her with bruises and inflamed intestines. Following this, Shelton was issued with a restraining order.
Shelton had a long-standing feud with his ‘Girl Meets World’ co-star Rowan Blanchard. It all began when Shelton and Rowan started expressing their respective views on topics such as feminism and racism. Their political differences and their conflicting comments led to a marked feud between the two.
