Career

Toby Kebbell learned acting at the Central Junior Television Workshop in Nottingham, along with Vicky McClure and Andrew Shim. Soon, he caught the attention of director Shane Meadows, who cast him in the film ‘Dead Man’s Shoes’. The film did well commercially, and Kebbel earned a nomination for the ‘British Independent Film Award’, for Most Promising Newcomer. He later appeared in movies, such as ‘Northern Soul’ and ‘Match Point’.

In 2007, he appeared in the movie ‘Control’. It was a biographical film about singer Ian Curtis, where Kebbel played a supporting character. His performance was praised and he won the ‘British Independent Film Award’ in the Best Supporting Actor category. The film was an average success commercially.

The next year, he appeared in the crime comedy film ‘Rocknrolla’ alongside actors like Gerard Butler, Idris Elba and Tom Hardy. The film was an average success financially.

In 2010, he appeared in the film ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’, where he played a supporting role. The film did quite well commercially. At around the same time, he appeared in three other films, ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’, ‘The Conspirator’ and ‘Cheri’.

In 2011, he played the lead role in the action film ‘The Veteran’. He portrayed the role of a war veteran named Robert Miller. The next year, he was seen in a supporting role in the war drama film ‘War Horse’. The film was directed and produced by Steven Spielberg. The film earned nearly $180 million on a $66 million budget. Critical reception was also mostly favorable.

The following year, he was seen in the action fantasy film ‘Wrath of the Titans’. Though the film was a success commercially, reviews were mostly negative.

He appeared in two films in the year 2013: ‘The East’ and ‘The Counselor’. The former was a financial failure, while the latter was a success. He appeared in several movies over the ensuing years, such as ‘Fantastic Four’ (2015), ‘Gold’ (2016), ‘The Female Brain’ (2017), and ‘The Destroyer’ (2018).

Throughout his career, he has also played guest roles in a few TV shows, such as ‘Black Mirror’ and ‘The Escape Artist’. In addition, he has appeared in two TV films, ‘Born Equal’ and ‘The Commander: Windows of the Soul’.
He portrayed the role of  Sean Turner in Servant (2019) TV series.
