DIn 2006 he took the Jean Périmony course in Paris. He then joined the École supérieure d'art dramatique . In 2009, he obtained the entrance examination to the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art from which he graduated in 2012.

In 2015, he played his first film role in Le Convoi directed by Frédéric Schoendoerffer . The same year, he played Sofiane, the main role of Chouf by Karim Dridi. The film was presented in a special screening in the official selection at the Cannes Film Festival . His performance earned him to be pre-listed in the revelation category of the César 2017 .
In 2018 Romain Gavras entrusted him with the role of Poutine, a delusional gangster, in his crazy comedy, Le Monde est à toi, selected for the Directors' Fortnight at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival .
Sofian Khammes also made a few appearances on television and in radio dramas. He has also appeared in numerous short films including Acide by Just Philippot, the official short film César 2018 pre-selection and Que la nuit s'omplève by Denoal Rouaud, nominated in the category best short film and best young hope, at the Festival.
