Rethabile Khumalo

Rethabile Khumalo is a South African singer, songwriter, composer, guitarist, and dancer who shot to fame getting signed by DJ Tira to Afrotainment in 2018.  Rethabile also took part in Idols SA season 8 and 9.

Career and Education
Rethabile Khumalo started singing at an early because her mother Winnie Kkumalo. In 2008 she became the backing vocalist on her mother's shows. She briefly worked as a showgirl at Montecasino's Cantare  after finishing high school in a show called Heels and Feathers. She also appeared on Idols SA season 8 and 9 but was not successful.

Zwodwa Wabantu who is her mother's friend invited to party at a pop club in Soweto where DJ Tira and his wife, Gugu Khathi was also attending. She sat next to Gugu Khathi who she talked to about her passion of music. Weeks later, Rethabile she was invited to the studio wher she recorded her first song, Nomathemba Nomathe, which translates to 'mother of hope.'

On 09 September 2018 which was Rethabile's birthday DJ Tira announced that she had been signed to Afrotainment.

Background and family

Rethabile Khumalo was born and raised in Protea Glen in Soweto. Her mother is renowned musician Winnie Khumalo. Her father's name is not known but he is also a musician. Rethabile Khumalo has got a half brother  Thando Thobela from her mother's relationship with former boxing champion Dingaan 'Rose of Soweto' Thobela.


Rethabile Khumalo was born on 09 September 1996 in Soweto. She is 23 years old as of 2020.


Rethabile Khumalo's boyfriend is not known.
