Paulina Gómez Torres, known professionally as Paulina Goto is a Mexican actress, singer, and television hostess, who first gained popularity for her debut role in the Mexican telenovela Niña de mi Corazón in 2010.
Date of birth
Paulina Goto was born Paulina Gómez Torres, on July 29, 1991, in Monterrey, Mexico.
She was born to Eduardo Gómez and Alicia Torres. Her parents were successful in their respective professions. Her father was a locally famous singer and musician, and her mother worked as a psychologist. She grew up with her younger brother, Eduardo.
Work made the family move from Monterrey to Tampico, where they eventually settled. Paulina was 5 years of age then. She spent her childhood and teenage years there. By the time she turned 10, she had developed a keen interest in music. Most of the inspiration came from her musician father.
As a 4-year-old child, Paulina started training in ballet. She also joined rhythmic gymnastics classes, which she continued till she was 14 years old. As a junior gymnast, Pauline continued to participate in several local and national gymnastic competitions. She ended up becoming a star gymnast. She also represented her country in many international competitions.
In 2000, she participated in rhythmic gymnastics at the national junior ‘Olympics’ tournament. She also represented her school in many competitions.
Paulina completed her primary education from ‘The American School Of Tampico,’ which was inspired mostly by the American style of school system and education. She also continued to participate in school choirs since a very early age, which motivated her to learn music. After graduating high school, she joined the ‘Tec de Monterrey University’ at the age of 17. By then, she had begun getting steady work as an actor. She decided to finish her graduation through online correspondence, as she had to move to Mexico City for work.
Although Paulina Goto has remained very secretive about her personal relationships, she revealed in June 2016 that she had been dating actor Horacio Pancheri.

In 2008, Paulina was hired to co-host ‘Roomies,’ a youth-oriented TV news show. However, the show was not very big in terms of reach and was only telecast in the city of Tampico. She worked on the show as a host and gained significant experience. She quit the show in 2009.
However, working on the show did turn out to be fruitful for her. She, along with a few more crew members from the show, was invited to attend the ‘Centro de Educación Artística.’ The school was run by a major media house and taught the students for free.
After a month of auditioning for the school, Paulina was finally accepted. Thus, she moved to New Mexico at the age of 17. There, she lived with her relatives during the first year of school, before she moved out and got a house of her own.
She learned the intricacies of acting, singing, and dancing. During her second year at the school, she earned an audition for the ‘Niña de mi Corazón,’ a telenovela. The auditions were held in her school, and she ended up getting the role of a teenager named ‘Andrea Paz.’
She also played ‘Andrea’s twin brother, ‘Andres Paz.’
The series was appreciated by critics and also became commercially successful. Paulina ended up winning the ‘Best Young Actress’ award at the ‘TVyNovelas Awards’ in 2011. The telenovela was also released in the US, where it won critical and commercial acclaim.
Following her successful TV debut, Paulina did some theater. She appeared in the 2011 play ‘El Knack,’ where she played the lead role.
In mid-2011, Paulina auditioned for a series named ‘Miss XV.’ She was supposed to play the second lead. The actor selected for the lead role decided to drop out of the series and the role eventually went to Paulina. The series released in the US, too, and became successful in both Mexico and the US. Despite its success, it was not renewed for a second season. Paulina won the ‘Favourite Actress’ award at the ‘Kids Choice Awards’ in Mexico.
In 2014, she appeared in another telenovela, ‘Mi corazón es tuyo,’ which became superbly successful and continued to dominate the award functions for the next couple of years. Paulina also ended up winning several awards, including the ‘Best Smile’ and the ‘Best Young Actress’ awards at the ‘TVyNovelas Awards.’
In 2015, Paulina moved to the US to participate in the acting workshops organized by the ‘Stella Adler Studio of Acting.’ She was also seen playing roles in telenovelas such as ‘El vuelo de la Victoria’ and ‘Un camino hacia el destino.’
Paulina also ventured into music as soon as her acting career picked up pace. In June 2010, Paulina released her self-titled debut album, which was collectively produced by several major Mexican producers. The single ‘Mio’ was played 39 thousand times in the first week of its digital release on Mexican radio.
The album debuted at the 7th spot on Mexico’s ‘Top Album’ charts and at the 66th spot on the ‘Mexican Top 100 Album Charts.’ The album was released by ‘Sony Music Mexico’ and was a moderate success, both critically and commercially.
In the telenovela ‘Miss XV,’ Paulina’s character was a member of a fictional pop band named ‘Eme 15.’ Soon, the band began performing as a real band, with Paulina as its lead singer. In 2012, the band released their self-titled debut album, which was a big hit. All the other members in the band were also actors who had appeared in the telenovela.
In 2012, after announcing that she was working on her sophomore album, Paulina kept herself involved in music and continued to appear in music videos of the singles she produced.
In 2017, she made her film debut with the film ‘Yo soy Pepito.’ In 2018 she starred in the lead role in the film ‘La Leyenda Del Diamante.’
In January 2018, Goto embarked on a national tour in Mexico as part of the cast of the comedy-drama play, "Dios mío hazme viuda por favor", based on the 2004 book of the same name by author, Josefina Vazquez Mota. The play, which tells the stories of five women's marital issues, ran in Mexico until February 2018.
In July 2019, Goto announced her return to television to film a lead role in the Mexican drama, "Vencer en silencio". Filming commenced in Mexico City on 2 July, lasting for several months. The telenovela premiered in Mexico on 20 January 2020.
Goto was cast in her first leading film role in the Mexican comedy-drama movie, 'Veinteañera, divorciada y fantástica’, with production held in Mexico City in November 2018. The movie is a spin-off of the 2016 Mexican comedy, 'Treintona, Soltera y Fantástica’. The movie premiered in theaters in 2020 in Mexico.
