At 11 years of age, Farrant began performing on stage in productions at the Young Vic, the National Theatre and Shakespeare's Globe theatre. 

Otto Farrant is best known through played the starring role as Alex Rider in the spy thriller web series “Alex Rider”, which aired on Amazon Prime.

He came into limelight with his notable role as Thomas Grey, which he played on the BBC One’s historical drama television miniseries “The White Queen”.

He began his acting career in 2007 with short film “Picnic” and played the unrecognized role and in 2010, he made his big screen debut as Young Perseus in Clash of the Titans

He gained recognition early in his career, when he was cast as Joshua Maxwell in 2011’s Lasse Hallström directed comedy film “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen”. He has had guest-starring roles in the number of popular series such as “Mrs. Wilson”, “Marcella” and “War & Peace”.

 In 2016, he played Petya Rostov in the BBC historical Russian based drama serial War & Peace, then as Nigel Wilson in the 2018 BBC miniseries Mrs. Wilson.

In 2019, Farrant landed the leading role in Amazon Prime Video's Alex Rider, a television adaptation of Anthony Horowitz's novel series, where a teenage schoolboy gets recruited by MI6. Farrant stars alongside Vicky McClure and Stephen Dillane.

In 2020, he portrayed the role of Alex Rider in Alex Rider TV series.
