Ben Motshwari

Ben Motshwari is a South African footballer who plays as a forward for South African Premier League giants Orlando Pirates. He joined Orlando Pirates from Bidvest Wits in 2018.


Ben Motshwari started his Premier League football career in 2013 when he joined Bidvest Wits on trial.  Bidvest Wits later signed him in 2014 after impressing on trial.  Ben grew into one of the most performing midfielders in the league attracting the attention of Orlando Pirates who signed him in 2018. Ben Mothswari's career at Orlando Pirates flourished in 2019/2020 season where he became one of the most used players. He also became one of the fan favorites.

On 07 May 2020 Orlando Pirates announced that Ben Motshwari had tested positive for coronavirus becoming the first player to be diagnoside with the virus in the South Africa Premier League.

"Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that Ben Motshwari has tested positive for COVID-19. Ben was presented with flu-like symptoms last week and after undergoing tests, his results have come back positive."

"The player is asymptomatic and is currently in home isolation for the next 14 days. He will need to test negative before he is cleared."

"The Club has also advised that the player must notify the doctors of all the people that he has been in contact with to ensure that they also get tested."
