Zimbabwe's foreign minister Sibusiso "SB" Moyo best known for announcing 2017 military intervention that ousted Robert Mugabe has died of Covid-19. SB Moyo had been battling a kidney ailment requiring regular dialysis. Moyo aged 61 reportedly died at a private hospital in Harare days after testing positive for Covid-19.
Moyo was married to Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission chairperson Loice Matanda-Moyo and became the third minister to die from the Covid-19 following deaths of former Lands and agriculture minister Perrance Shiri, a former Air Force of Zimbabwe commander and Ellen Gwaradzimba, the minister of provincial affairs for Manicaland.
Zimbabwe is battling a deadly surge in coronavirus cases, with deaths rising to a record of 60 a day. 28675 infections and 825 deaths has been recorded to date.
